Still working on new stuff for my artbook and this one was made last month.

I tried out some new techniques with brushes on this, like using photos from old machinery as stamps or placing painted geometry into perspective in some areas.

Painting time was about 8 hours in Photoshop and a Wacom Intous 3.

So I hope you like it (push the button )

this work was done for Bastai / Lübbe.... a very big German book publisher.

The character was done in 3DS-Max and refined in Z-Brush.
Rendering was done with Mental Ray (I just love it! )

Photoshop was used for color correction!
almost 70 percent of this image was done in 2D and i personal think it fits more in the 2D sections this time

The model was very rough done in 3DSMAX and the overpainted several times in Photoshop.

(featured in my portfolio before)
Hope you like it
I second that!
I used 3DSMAX for al the models, refining and texturing was done in ZB/Photoshop.
Hope you like it
This image was done for the cgnetworks Master & Servant challenge.
I just wanted to show it to the rest of the people who don´t visit the challenge forum. ((and hope you all like it ))
This time it was very hard for me... because i had never done any cg-characters before. I learnd a lot about rigging and skinning.
I knew that the characters are not perfect, but 4 my first cg-characters i´m a little satisfied
Cheers Alex

Well... it´s been a while since i posted something new.

This is the first work i have done after the dead of my beloved sister.

I had nothing in mind during the concept.... I just opened Photoshop and started painting on one single layer.... and after a while things began to take shape... and then i started to elaborate the rough forms until i got this as the final result.

I know this is nothing spectacular and the concept has already been used several times, but painting this image helped me a lot to get a clear head and to focus on something new.

Nevertheless i wanted to show you what i have done the last weeks.

ORCUM - MATTPAINTING & MOVIE CONCEPT WORK

Well.. i am a bit unsure where to put this image, because a lot of the work was done in 2D to realize the environment, but... the main work floats into the ORCUM model in the centre of the image.

It is some sort of sentinel in an old forgotten forest on a far away planet…

This image is part of a low-budget SF-Movie project I am involved in. Daniel Frerix, a student from Germany and a friend of mine is making this movie "RUNGU LUFUS" and it is about 3 Friends who start out on a epic journey to save the world. If you like to know more about this project you can visit his website www.rungulufus.de

So much for introducing

First of all... THIS WAS MY VERY VIRST ATTEMP TO CREATE A REALISTIC LOOKING MATTPAINTING FOR A MOVIE SPECIAL EFFECT...

I used a photo from the "Teutoburger wald" in Germany and combined parts of it to a new landscape. The movie will be shot in DVD Resolution and so there was no need to create the painting in ultra highres... I limited myself to 1600x1800pixel (not only because of the lowres source photo i got from my partner This all started out as a test but i like the end result so far and i wanted to share it with you.

The final image was rendered out of 3DSmax with extra contrast and a small noise filter.

Have fun
Alex
Welcome to my latest pic.
I try at the moment to improve my skills in 2D painting a bit. I started this as a sketch for an upcoming 3D image inspired by Keith Parkinson. But i thought it would be nice to use my old Wacom a bit more ... I always wanted to do a fantasy pic, you know like "the last Unicorn" "Krull" "LOTR"...
There are some poor explorers who wanted to enter a prohibited path to an old hidden city. They ignore all the warnings from the locals and make they path through the dungeoun until the broken bridge....

My first one was a shot from the "DARK TOWER" and this time i want to focus a bit more on the main character.

I first wanted to work more on my 3D Version of Roland and started with a quick sketch how to set up the scene... but after a few more strokes i decidet to work this one out into a new 2D Image because i liked this rough style, and i thought it fits perfectly to the style of my last Stepehn King image.

I used a photo from Cleant Eastwood as reference and some textures for the background... Everything is painted in Photoshop with use of a Wacom 4A Intous tablet.
